Opportunities from Dutch energy from water solutions

Time:13:00 -13:35Location: NL Lounge theatre at Netherlands Pavilion (booth number 07.328)

The energy transition is moving, but needs further acceleration to avoid excessive climate change and sealevel rise. The waters in the oceans and seas host an enormous energy potential. These sources include tidal flows, waves and salinity gradient (salt content difference between rivers and seas), that are available every day, also when the sun doesn't shine or when the wind doesn't blow. This energy can be harvested with new solutions as are being developed in the Netherlands. Energy from water sources are critical for a more robust energy mix and are the basis for lowest cost continuous renewable energy supply, as requiring much less storage (solutions based on water are being developed also in NL). We will discuss the developments and uniqueness of the Dutch innovations in this area. Are you interested to learn more? Looking forward to inform, discuss and explore potential cooperation

Convenors:Maarten Berkhout (SeaQurrent and EWA), Pieter Hack (REDStack), Erwin Meijboom (Slowmill (TBC)?, and Olaf Waals (MARIN (TBC))

Nutrient recycling: Looking back and looking forwards, where do we go from here?

Time: 13:15 - 14:00Location:Wastewater & Resources World 07.508

The global demand for nutrients such as phosphorus is rising, but the supplies available are decreasing. This is a big problem for food security worldwide. This year, the Nutrient Platform will be at Aquatech Amsterdam to talk about nutrient recycling: the legal aspects, technological hurdles, and short to medium-term opportunities and innovations that are relevant to nutrient recycling. The speakers will talk about the rules, challenges, opportunities, and new ideas related to nutrient recycling.

The PILOTING project proposes the adaptation, integration, and demonstration of robotic solutions, in an integrated platform, to be able to inspect and maintain (aging) infrastructure, like water related infrastructure. The presentation will show you the whole inspection process, from setting up digital twins, harvesting data by using drones and robots till generating a full inspection report. Learn how to use robotics as an enabler for a more safe and efficient inspection process.

Taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts is strongly embedded in reaching the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. During the Amsterdam International Water Week, Young Expert Programmes (YEP) and Wavemakers United (WU) will showcase how they contribute to innovation and increasing our workforce

Convenors:Paul van Essen (Young Expert Programs (YEP)) andGijs van Nes (Wavemakers United (WU))
