Wylie High an extremely great school. As someone who has moved around from school to school a lot, I can say with confidence that Wylie High has been an amazing experience. I will say our arts department (choir, theater, art, etc.) is absolutely outstanding. Wylie high is a hub for creative liberties that allow you enough freedom to get a taste of the real world. I have nothing but great things to say about this amazing, prideful, spirit filled, school. AHMO!

I was a former SLP. Annie Best, my co-SLP mistreated me and I was let go for reporting. I was the only black staff member in the school. Scare tactics, micro-managed me, questioned my competence, and met me with silent treatment repeatedly. We shared a small room together, so working next to her became difficult. If I ever made a mistake or asked for help, Annie would threaten that my job was on the line; instead of helping me. The diagnostician, Fabiola Diaz, would only relay info to me through Annie, never acknowledged me as a person. The only time I was acknowledged was to receive harsh criticism on my written reports, or meeting agenda notes. I eventually felt I had to watch my back at all times. Annie met everyone with a smile, while treating me this way behind the scenes. It was harassment! I reported Annie's behavior to Brenda Oksanen of the district and was immediately let go! It makes me wonder why they are unable to keep the 2nd SLP position filled.

The teachers in Wylie care a lot about their students. Building a relationship to the student was just as important as the education itself. I believe Wylie did a great job at challenging "smarter" students, but sometimes left other students behind.
